Manila, mahal kita

Posted in Uncategorized by Kaity Chua on August 24, 2010

I feel incredibly sad about what just happened in Manila. The damage has been done and the repercussions are piling up but I refuse to let these bring the pride I have for my country down.

In these trying times,ย  the first instinct is to hide in a dark corner and throw harsh remarks about the country, the mess it’s in, the whole terrifying spectacle. But that’s what cowards do. We only live once and it would be a shame if we never bothered to try becoming and being heroes.

Hey, was this taken during our Manila by night outing? ๐Ÿ™‚

On a side note, I think we Filipinos have been too preoccupied with finding heroes to a fault. We’ve been looking for a savior when we ought to have been searching for are leaders. But what we really need are citizens, aware of both the freedoms and duties that come with being a Filipino. *bow*

Hey Gino, yes it was taken during that eskarsyon! ๐Ÿ™‚

And yes, you are right. We need smart, responsible citizens who can eventually become heroes. I’m looking at you, Nacianceno! ๐Ÿ™‚ Miss you!
